Borrow a backpack for some outdoor fun!

Thanks to the Harlem Valley Appalachian Trail Community, we now have backpacks available for you to check out with your Library card! This generous donation includes: a backpack to carry your water, lunch and other supplies; binoculars; a bbackpackird guide; local trail maps and brochures featuring information such as animal tracks, Great Swamp wildlife, and more. If this beautiful weather is calling to you to get outside, come borrow one of our backpacks and head out to enjoy any of the amazing natural trails right here in your own beautiful back yard – the Harlem Valley!

Dover now has a Little Free Library!!

We can’t thank Lloyd Berkeley – our frequent patron, local resident and business owner of Oblong Woodworks – enough for donating his time, materials and beyond amazing woodworking skills to create (and install!) our fabulous Little Library. It is located along the Appalachian Trial up by Wiley Shelter in Wingdale in support of our area being part of a designated Appalachian Trail Community.

Thank you Lloyd!!Little Free Library Little Free Library at Wiley

eBooks for Kids!

The library has expanded services with a new digital collection website experience just for kids. The main MHLS Digital Download Collection now has a separate site to provide a safe and easy browsing experience for kids.

Libraries recognize the need to provide a safe environment for kids to browse library materials. Just as the children’s section of the physical library has its own place, the same experience is now available in the digital collection for kids eBooks and audiobooks. Browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level. Check out the Kid’s eReading Room.
