Get a Library Card

Library cards are FREE! A Dover Plains Library card is good at all 66 libraries within the Mid-Hudson Library System. If you live within the geographic area of a MHLS member library, you can get a Library card.

Adults

Adults can register for a full access library card in-person at the Library. Simply bring a photo id and/or a piece of mail that is addressed to you at your current home address. This type of library card will allow adults to borrow books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, and items in the Library of Things, as well as e-books, digital audiobooks, streaming video and music.

For an online resources only library card, adults can register using this form. In order to turn the online card to a full access one, adults must come to the Library and show a photo id and/or a piece of mail addressed to them at the address used when they registered online.

Teens

Dover Plains Library offers a Teen Library Card to Dover residents aged 13-17 years. Teens must register in-person at the Library and bring a NYS-issued id or a DUFSD-issued id. The Dover Teen Card does not require the signature of an adult and is not linked to an adult’s card. Teen Cardholders are limited to 3 items checked out at any one time. For further details on the Teen Card, please see the Library’s Circulation and Cardholder Policy.

Youth

Children under 13 may get their own library cards; however, they may only do so with a parent or guardian’s signature and their card must be linked to that adult’s library card. Adults seeking library cards for children will need to have their own library cards as well.
